About Family Support Services

Family Support Services manages programs that offer free, voluntary services to families. The programs provide services through contracts with local nonprofits, governments and schools. The program also provides funding and other resources to support local service providers and the families they help.

Providers or anyone who would like to contract with Family Support Services can visit the Grantee Resources page.

Community Services

Family Support Services helps communities identify and meet their needs, enhances local services, and improves existing programs. It also shares tips for keeping children safe. The program helps families and communities by:

  • Promoting healthy outcomes and strengthening support systems for children and families.
  • Assisting families to achieve self-sufficiency and stability.
  • Promoting workforce participation.
  • Preventing or reducing risk factors that may lead to:
    • Child abuse and neglect
    • Juvenile delinquency, running away, truancy, dropping out of school, or substance use.
    • Involvement with the child welfare system, juvenile justice system or the criminal justice system.
